Our Xolo Story

In addition to the Cavaliers, we share our lives with a few Xolo’s. I had always been intrigued by these dogs when I saw them at dog shows. They are still pretty rare. In 2022 we were camped next to a handler that had a bunch of them with her. Needless to say, after spending some time learning about the breed, and learning they are NOT dog aggressive we shortly made arrangements with a breeder in Florida to be a Guardian home for one of his young, coated pups. Tolo the “coated” Xolo in the photo above quickly became a family favorite and since then our Xolo family has also grown.

Tolo, (a nearly perfect example of a coated Xolo in our eyes), was neutered and remains a family pet. He outgrew the AKC standard by quite a bit. He will always remain with us, or one of our children.

In 2022 we added Vanna a miniature hairless as a show prospect. She has not turned out as we had hoped. We have shown her some in conformation, but she does not enjoy it. We may title her in Fast Cat and ultimately plan to place her in an appropriate companion home.

In 2023 we agreed to purchase Nala, a standard hairless show prospect from a breeder in Mexico that I had been following for a couple years. Nala joined our family in January of 2024. She has met and exceeded my hopes as she is knocking on the door to her AKC Championship at only 7 months of age. She is an absolute spoiled goofball and is fun to show. We will continue showing her and plan to breed her in the future as long as she passes all of her OFAs.
